Love him or hate him, Michael Bay knows how to make a hit. Now rumor has it the explosion maestro could be sticking around for a fifth run at arguably his biggest franchise ever—Transformers.

The news comes via veteran actor Glenn Morshower, who played a military leader in the previous installments, who was talking about the series at a fan convention.

Though we'd heard that virtually all the original cast was out for Transformers 4, Morshower said he should be sticking around for a while in some capacity, along with some of the team behind the scenes:

"After I did the opening ceremonies for the [Transformers theme park] ride, Steven Spielberg walked up to me and chatted and said 'You know we've got you set to do the fourth one and probably the fifth one on the heels of that. So, I guess in December we are on our way to making 4 and 5."
Hmm. We're not surprised to hear that a fifth Transformers is on the table—hey, the franchise makes a ton of money—but we didn't know that it was being fast-tracked.

If Spielberg is talking about it shooting right after part four, it's likely that both he and Bay will be involved in some capacity, as it could be a little awkward to bring in another director when you're shooting sequels back to back.

It's no shocker that Bay could stay with the franchise that's made him a bazillionaire. He originally said he was done after part three, but opted to extend his stay to help hatch the plan for the semi-reboot.

What do you think of the news that Bay could be back for more Transformers?
