The zombie series The Walking Dead hit its midseason finale with a head-exploding shocker, and the cast and crew are already talking up the insanity to come in the back half of season five.

Each half-season has almost served like a separate mini-arc the past few years, and this one looks like it’ll follow the same trajectory. Many of the plot points that drove the action for the first half have wrapped, and with the group forced to overcome some fresh tragedy, it sounds like we can look for another course correction in early 2015.

Though they weren’t offering up much fresh footage (*sigh*), a new featurette with several new interviews with the cast and crew has been released to tide us over while we wait for our undead fix after the holidays. Not surprisingly, things are going to get dark for Maggie (Lauren Cohan), and showrunner Scott Gimple promises “a huge change for the situation” is coming for our favorite group of survivors.

As any fan who has read the comic can attest, there is no shortage of huge developments on the horizon that Gimple could be referencing — so that helps answer some questions, but we still don’t know which way they’ll take things. Check out the footage below and give us your best guess:

The Walking Dead’s fifth season resumes Sunday, Feb. 8, on AMC.
