Things on The Walking Dead are about to go from bad to worse. The series has found its next ruthless villiain: Negan. The character does major damage in the comics and is bringing his brutal brand of evil to the small screen. So, who will play the devilish figure?
Jeffrey Dean Morgan beat out a solid group of actors to land the part. The candidates included Timothy Olyphant, Matt Dillon and Garret Dillahunt. Without spoiling anything, Negan makes the Governor look like a petulant child. He's killed multiple people, including a fan favorite, using his weapon of choice: "Lucille." What is Lucille? It's a baseball bat covered in barbed wire that he keeps at his side.
Morgan has had a long and successful run in television, so we're not surprised he snagged a spot on AMC's biggest hit. Prior to being cast, the actor appeared on The Good Wife and Extant. Some of you may even remember him from his stint as Sam and Dean's father on Supernatural. He's also had success on the big screen appearing in Zack Snyder's Watchmen. Next year, he'll have a small role in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice as Thomas Wayne.
As for Negan, Morgan will make his debut in The Walking Dead's Season 6 finale. Coincidentally, that episode began filming this week. He'll start off as a guest star but eventually become a regular in Season 7.
What do you think of Morgan as Negan? Good choice?
