With the introduction of the Hilltop colony and Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) and his Saviors in the second half of Season 6, it was only a matter of time before The Walking Dead took us inside the walls of another community -- one with strong ties to the Hilltop -- for Season 7.
According to TV Line, AMC has issued a casting call for the recurring role of Augustus. The site reports that the show is looking to cast an African-American actor in his 40s as a character who “bears a striking resemblance to Ezekiel, who, in Robert Kirkman’s series of graphic novels, is the self-proclaimed king of The Kingdom. A doozy of a character, His Highness is described as flamboyant and wise, nice and weird.”
Who says The Kingdom and its ruler also says Ezekiel's pet tiger (yep, you read that right, a pet TIGER) Shiva. Now, whether or not the hit zombie series decides to go down that particular road remains to be seen, since that one's pretty much out there. (You're right, you're right. It's a show where the dead walk, after all.) But if you’re wondering how in the holy heck does a guy walk around with a pet tiger in tow to begin with, there’s actually a fairly plausible reason for that.
In the comics, Ezekiel was a former zookeeper who took care of Shiva, and, in turn, she took care of him when the zombie apocalypse broke. Rick (Andrew Lincoln) and the gang meet him through Jesus (Tom Payne), and together they hatch a plan to take down the Saviors once and for all and avenge a certain character’s gruesome death at the end of Negan's barbed-wired bat, Lucille.
Who would you like to see in the role of Ezekiel on The Walking Dead? Do you believe the series will also introduce his pet tiger, Shiva?
