Samsung is getting deeper into the virtual reality business, and they’re bringing a Walking Dead producer along for the ride.
Variety reports that Walking Dead producer David Alpert has signed on with several other creative types to provide content for the company’s new Milk VR virtual reality headset. No word on whether Alpert’s project is zombie-related, but considering that Robert Kirkman’s Skybound Entertainment is among the participating studios, it’s a good guess that we’ll have some virtual reality walkers soon enough.
The Milk VR system will offer approximately 30 titles from several different companies. Along with Skybound, Samsung has also signed Red Bull Media House, Mountain Dew, Refinery29, Matador, Boiler Room, Artists Den, Acura and the NBA. Yes, virtual reality is awesome, but it’ll require decent software to be worth our while.
Here’s hoping some walker-hunting in virtual reality will be just the ticket.
The Gear VR technology ties into Samsung’s cellphones and is similar in ways to Oculus Rift’s VR system. Along with these two players, Sony is also developing its own VR experience, dubbed Project Morpheus. It seems virtual reality is shaping up to be the tech battlefield of the future.
