Got 44 minutes to spare? Sure you do! Especially since you can check out the entire first episode of NBC's new blackout sci-fi series Revolution for free. Make sure your laptop is fully juiced.

NBC has been kind enough to offer power-hungry genre fans a generous dose of life without electricity. Iron Man's Jon Favreau directed this pilot episode, which shows you a planet in chaos 15 years following a cataclysmic global power outage. It stars Billy Burke and Tracy Spiridakos. Created by Supernatural's Eric Kripke and Lost wonderboy J.J. Abrams, could Revolution provide a shining example of an episodic sci-fi drama that doesn't suck and recharge the fall TV season? Have a look ...

"We're gonna have flashbacks in every episode," co-creator Kripke said. "We call them epi-pens of adrenaline, of what happened in those first days after the blackout and how people survived, what happened, how they made their way out of the cities, how they found food and water. I think it's effective in small doses. It's very harrowing and very dark."

So, does the pilot jolt your curiosity or are you ready to pull the plug?
