Want to be a Jedi? Real-life lightsaber class teaches you how!

Think you've got the midi-chlorians to master the Force?

Alain Bloch is what you might call a bit of an eccentric. He's a self-proclaimed Jedi Master who has a background in martial arts and stage combat. That makes him a perfect teacher to all the other would-be Jedis out there.

While dressed in his Skywalker best, Bloch says to his students, "Always be mindful of the presence!" as the John Williams soundtrack swells and he executes a slice-and-parry technique with his weapon of choice -- the lightsaber.

In a dance studio in San Francisco, Bloch is leading by example as other members of the Golden Gate Knights attempt to master the use of the Jedi's elegant weapon.

Think the whole thing sounds ridiculous? You're not alone, but apparently people get over their shock pretty quickly. Says student Julio Reyes, "At first they giggle because they think it's a little silly. Then they're like, actually, that's kind of cool. Then they start asking more questions."

Of course, Jedi aren't the only folks out there who use lightsabers. Student Gary Ripper, clad in Sith black, has a whole other angle in mind.  "I just love Vader, period," says Ripper. "Just his voice, the way he moved, the power of him. I just liked the powerfulness of him."

We can't say we blame Ripper, Reyes, Bloch or anyone who seeks to be one with the Force and look like a badass while doing it. Sounds fun!
