Just when we thought John Noble couldn't get any cooler, he goes and does something like this. Noble (aka Walter Bishop) is joining forces with the Science Channel for a new TV show about—Fringe science (sort of).

The show is called Dark Matters, and it will investigate weird, bizarre, yet legitimate scientific studies. Noble and his team will explore everything from crossbreeding humans (with animals) to high-risk transplants to zombies. Yes, zombies!

"The stories we share in Dark Matters are as outlandish as a great sci-fi script or as disturbing as a classic horror tale—the only difference is that they're all true," Noble said. "The series offers a glimpse into the dark side of science, as well as human nature."

So how will they illustrate these crazy cases? They'll use re-enactments (America's Most Wanted style) and the magic of CGI for the more difficult stuff.

Check out the trailer below:

The only thing that would make this show better is if Joshua Jackson and Anna Torv popped up as special guests. We need a Peter and Olivia fix.

Dark Matters will premiere Aug. 31 at 10 p.m. and is scheduled to run for six episodes.
