20th Century Fox has dropped a promo and a fresh new clip for director Matt Reeves' hotly anticipated summer tentpole, War for the Planet of the Apes.
While the promo was released yesterday as part of the Father’s Day celebrations, the new sneak peek made its way online earlier today and features a tense meet-and-greet between Woody Harrelson’s new Planet of the Apes baddie called the Colonel and Andy Serkis’ Caesar. Who’s in chains. Yeah, that's probably not going to go well.
From what I can glean from the clip, I have a feeling this will be an epic face-off between two power-house actors; so dig into the videos below, and let us know what you think. Also starring in War for the Planet of the Apes is Steve Zahn (Sahara, Captain Fantastic) as Bad Ape and Amiah Miller as a young Nova (a character originally introduced in 1968’s Planet of the Apes). The movie opens on July 14.
In War for the Planet of the Apes, the third chapter of the critically acclaimed blockbuster franchise, Caesar and his apes are forced into a deadly conflict with an army of humans led by a ruthless Colonel. After the apes suffer unimaginable losses, Caesar wrestles with his darker instincts and begins his own mythic quest to avenge his kind. As the journey finally brings them face to face, Caesar and the Colonel are pitted against each other in an epic battle that will determine the fate of both their species and the future of the planet.
