Warner Bros. kills Kickstarter plan to revive canceled DC animated series

It wasn’t that long ago that Warner Bros. and the Cartoon Network pulled the plug on two beloved DC animated series. There was a bit of hope for a while, but now it looks like they’re definitely staying dead. Boo.

The folks at were organizing a Kickstarter crowdfunding movement to revive Young Justice and Green Lantern: The Animated Series, which were canceled recently. DC pulled the plug to clear the way for a new lineup of animated series, but that didn’t make the decision any easier for fans to stomach.

Well, after months of trying, the folks at SMGO just announced that Warner Bros. has axed their plans to raise funds to save one or both of the shows. Here’s their statement:

“Hey all, I’ve been trying (all day) to come up with a slightly better way to say this, but I’m just going to give it to you straight. Warner said no – they don’t think we can reach our goals – do you believe that?”

The two shows have been replaced by Beware the Batman and Teen Titans Go! on the Cartoon Network schedule, and it seems DC doesn’t want to deal with the potential distraction of a fan campaign. Heck, why not give them a seemingly unattainable goal of what it would take to realistically happen? Then, if they don't make it, so be it, but they at least have a chance.

Oh, well. For every Veronica Mars, it looks like there will be a whole lot of good-intentioned ideas like this one that fall by the wayside.
