Not long after word broke that Fox was developing a potential X-Force film, it seems like the project has already found its writer.
The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that Jeff Wadlow (Kick-Ass 2, Bates Motel) is signed on to pen the X-Men spinoff, with longtime X-Men franchise producer Lauren Shuller Donner attached in a supporting role.
Not much is known about the project other than that it’s happening, but X-Force comic writer Robert Liefield has been dropping a boatload of hints over on Twitter. The gist? He’s heard it will likely focus on the popular '90s version of the team, which was led by the character Cable and also featured Deadpool (most recently portrayed by Ryan Reynolds in X-Men Origins: Wolverine).
The film will assuredly fit in Bryan Singer’s continuity of X-Men films, and the success of Wolverine and X-Men: Days of Future Past will likely go a long way in determining the project’s fate. As for Wadlow’s hire? We’ll hold our judgment until we actually get to see Kick-Ass 2.
Are you glad to see that X-Force seems to be moving forward?
