Before Sarah Michelle Gellar became the Chosen One and slayed vampires on Buffy the Vampire Slayer (1997-2003), there was a 1992 film starring Kristy Swanson in the title role that did anything but slay its audience.
SYFY WIRE recently did a re-watch of the 25-year-old Joss Whedon movie and fifteen things stood out for us.
Some of those things included that before Team Angel and Team Spike (or even Team Riley? Uh, no) there was Team Pike thanks to a dreamy '90s Luke Perry; that cramps were a great vampire detector (yep, that was a thing in the movie); Paul Reubens had the best death scene in the history of ever; Buffy has always been the feminist hero we needed; the movie boasted some terrible period costumes that made '90s fashion look good; Pre-Giles Giles (that'd be Donald Sutherland's Merrick) is a creeper; and a whole lot more.
Also, did you guys remember that there were actually some pretty big stars in the movie? Besides Sutherland and Reubens, Hilary Swank, Ricki Lake, Stephen Root, David Arquette, Rutger Hauer, Thomas Jane and Ben Affleck appeared in the film before some of them shot to stardom.
After watching the video above, chime in with your thoughts. What else stood out for you in Buffy the Vampire Slayer?
