Right on time for the Doctor Who Christmas special (that'd be "Twice Upon a Time"), airing next week on December 25, SYFY WIRE has decided to try to concisely explain the BBC series in less than two minutes. Challenge accepted by your host, Dany Roth.

Created in 1963 by Sydney Newman, Doctor Who follows the adventures of an alien from Gallifrey called "the Doctor" (who was originally played by the late William Hartnell), who travels through time and space aboard a Big Blue Police Box called the TARDIS (which is an acronym for Time and Relative Dimension in Space).

Over the course of more of 54 years, the Doctor has regenerated 11 times (12 if you count the War Doctor) and is about to undergo yet another regeneration next week, a nifty way created by the powers-that-be at the time to explain the change of actors that has since become a major staple of the series.

The Doctor has also picked up several companions along the way, gone on many adventures, and faced terrifying enemies in the shape of The Master, the Daleks, the Cybermen, the Zygons, the Silurians, the Ice Warriors, and a whole lot more ... so come have a look in the video above. Geronimo!
