This month marks the tenth anniversary of the release of Iron Man, and therefore the tenth anniversary of the founding of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but those aren't the only major Marvel milestones to celebrate. It's also been a decade since writer Matt Fraction and artist Salvador Larroca launched Invincible Iron Man, a comic that started as a book meant to capitalize on the movie release and ended up being one of the definitive Tony Stark stories.
So the 10th birthday of Invincible Iron Man — which ended up winning Fraction his first Eisner Award for Best New Series, shared with Larroca — got us thinking about Fraction's work overall. The writer of Sex Criminals and Fear Itself and the co-creator of unforgettable characters like Pizza Dog and Fat Cobra has been working in comics for nearly two decades now, and in that time he's risen from little-known indie creator to "Marvel Architect" to bestselling, award-winning creator-owned comics icon. A lot of comics have filled the intervening years, and if you're going to dig into Fraction's body of work, some of them are absolute must-reads.
