Happy Back to the Future Day!
Today, October 21, marks the two-year anniversary of the moment in 1989's Back to the Future II when Doc Brown and Marty McFly hop in their time-traveling DeLorean and zap themselves forward 30 years to the year 2015, when, according to the Sports Almanac Marty buys, the long-suffering Chicago Cubs have won the World Series after a 108-year wait.
In real life the Cubbies did win their first World Series in 2016, just one year after the fictitious event predicted in the Robert Zemeckis-directed movie.
Many other inventions, fads, and products were presented in the sequel that never came to pass, but several have crossed the threshold from fantasy to reality (sorta), and we'd like to point out several of these futuristic gadgets you can get your hands on today in inexact, but very similar forms.
From VR goggles and self-wicking clothing to self-driving cars and smart glasses, the crazy world depicted in Back to the Future II wasn't as far-fetched as we thought.
