A cool new video depicting an alternate opening sequence for Captain America: The Winter Soldier has made its way online. The animatics seen in the video below were created by James Rothwell, based on storyboards by Alex Hillkurtz, Richard Bennett and Philip Keller.
While the Marvel movie opened with Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) jogging around the reflecting pool in front of the Washington monument in Washington D.C., and meeting his new BFF Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) for the first time (On your left!), the animatics depict a radically different opening sequence. In the alternate opening, Steve dreams about his fighting days during World War II alongside his first BFF Bucky and the Howling Commandos. When Cap gets awakened by his alarm clock, we see that Dum Dum Dugan has passed away, explaining Steve's dream sequence. Have a look at the video before it vanishes:
Although this opening sequence would have looked spectacular in the movie, I prefer how it starts on a tranquil note right before, you know, all hell breaks loose with the action and the big Winter Soldier and Hydra reveal. What about you? Would you have preferred this alternate opening sequence for Captain America: The Winter Soldier, or do you think the movie's opening is perfect as it is?
