We'll never not want to geek out with American Gods' Yetide Badaki. The actress, who received much-deserved accolades for her turn as old goddess Bilquis in the first season of the hit Starz series, is also a self-proclaimed nerd. In our conversation with her for SYFY Fangrrls, Badaki was more than happy to talk any number of genre properties -- from Star Trek to Stephen King.
Badaki cites Star Trek: The Next Generation as one of the first shows that made her feel represented on screen, and it was all because of Guinan (Whoopi Goldberg) "being fabulous and amazing and all-knowing." Switching over to fantasy worlds, the powerful and fierce Grace Jones in Conan the Destroyer and The Dark Tower's Susannah Dean were also huge influences on Badaki's early nerd life. In fact, if she could pick any character in sci-fi or fantasy to play? It would be Susannah Dean, no question (although she also puts out a teeny request for Storm, too).
Check out our interview in full with Badaki below, where she discusses everything from her love of Battlestar Galactica ("Unfinished Business," amirite?), anticipation for Black Panther and Altered Carbon, and so much more.
