We’re less than a week away from the highly anticipated premiere of Ant-Man and the Wasp, and we had the chance to see the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s newest entry. Yes. You can bet that we do have some spoiler-free thoughts to share.
Directed by Peyton Reed, the Ant-Man sequel stars Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lilly, Michael Douglas, Michelle Pfeiffer, Laurence Fishburne, Michael Peña, Walton Goggins, Hannah John-Kamen, Tip “T.I.” Harris, and David Dastmalchian. The movie currently sits at 88% fresh on aggregator site Rotten Tomatoes and has garnered some positive buzz, with many critics calling it the funniest Marvel movie to date.
Which… we totally agree with! With Mike adding that “the big laughs came in small packages.” He also pointed out the fact that although the superhero film has a few quantum-sized plot holes big enough to drive Matchbox cars through them, what you have to do is just sit back and enjoy the movie.
For Jackie, the best part was to see Lilly suit up as the Wasp, calling her amazing and a “bone fide action star.” So much so that the film felt like it was The Wasp and Ant-Man. Moreover, not only is she awesome with action pieces, but she’s also great with the comedy bits. Fishburne as Bill Foster and John-Kamen as Ghost also got some luuurve from us — especially Ghost.
So, who do you think won the week for us? Evangeline Lilly’s Wasp, or Hannah John-Kamen’s Ghost? Come and find out.
Ant-Man and the Wasp opens on July 6. If you want to know how the movie actually fits into the Infinity War timeline, be sure to stick around through the credits to find out.
