Aquaman may be best known to the general public as having the lamest powers of the core Justice League members, but — as Jason Momoa will hopefully be proving when he brings the character to life for the first time this week in Warner Bros.' Justice League — that is simply not true. Aquaman can communicate with sea life and survive at extreme depths of the ocean. Are you telling me that if someone gave you those powers right now you wouldn't kiss reality goodbye and go hang out with fish at the bottom of the sea for the rest of your life?
Yeah, that’s what I thought.
Arthur Curry, Orin, the King of Atlantis and the Seven Seas — best known as the superhero Aquaman — first dove into the hearts of readers in 1941 — just two years after the debut of the Sub-Mariner at Timely Comics (later Marvel) — and has been a member of the Justice League since the very beginning of the team in 1960. His unique powerset and experience have come in handy (or hook-handy) to the League countless times over the decades, and he has been one of their most loyal members. You just can't let him be a leader — it hasn't turned out well for the team, and Atlantis gets overthrown basically bi-weekly.
But Aquaman has had his success stories and big victories, and we've gathered his biggest ones in the latest in our series of Justice League videos. We've already covered Batman and Wonder Woman's biggest triumphs (and gave you a look at the team's history in 2 minutes); now, in the video above, we're plunging into the comic book depths with Aquaman's best moments as a member of the world's greatest superteam. Be sure to let us know your fishy favorites in the comments, and stay tuned for even more Justice League goodness.
