Wanna see Starz’s upcoming pirate drama series Black Sails’ catchy and visually stunning opening sequence? Yeah, you know you do!

Composed by Bear McCreary (Battlestar Galactica, The Walking Dead, Da Vinci’s Demons), the cool opening title credits remind us of another fantastic opening sequence: that of HBO’s Game of Thrones, which went on to win an extremely well-deserved 2011 Emmy for best credits.

The hauntingly beautiful title sequence (achieved with the help of an instrument called a hurdy-gurdy) follows the camera as it tours a rather haunting sculpture -- complete with lovely maidens and hideous skeletons. The tune itself is really catchy.

Have a look -- and a listen -- below:

We also have a dark and gritty inside look into the upcoming pirate series. Let’s just say that Black Sails will not be your regular Pirates of the Caribbean flick-type thing. Rather, it reminds us of another great Starz TV show called Spartacus, sprinkled with a bit of a Game of Thrones vibe for good measure.

Check it out:

Black Sails will set sail (pun very much intended) on Jan. 25 on Starz.
