We're so used to seeing the hulking Dave Bautista portraying the overly-literal, crimson-skinned alien, Drax The Destroyer, in James Gunn's Guardians of the Galaxy movies that there may still be some residual effect when we see him as renegade replicant Sapper Morton in Blade Runner 2049.
Yet Bautista is capable of an amazing range of acting, from rage to initimacy, and all shades in between. And you'll see that director Denis Villeneuve (Arrival) has tapped into those many personality facets when his somber sci-fi spectacle flashes across screens starting Friday, Oct. 6.
SYFY WIRE recently shared a room with Bautista to extract some fond memories about his time during the movie's production, his prequel short, Sapper's mindset, his emotional connections to the original 1982 film, and what his favorite moment was from that atmospheric Ridley Scott-directed classic.
