The co-creator of Batman: The Animated Series is back with a new Dark Knight short, and he doesn't disappoint.

It's the 75th anniversary of Batman, and there are a number of celebrations going on to mark the Caped Crusader hitting that landmark. Among them is this short film, produced by animator Bruce Timm, best known for his work launching and shepherding what we now know as the DCAU (D.C. Animated Universe).

Titled "Strange Days," the short features Batman locked in battle with Dr. Hugo Strange and his Solomon Grundy-like slave. It shows off Timm's classic Batman animation style (with a nice retro feel to it), a very tight storytelling techique and, of course, Batman firing tear-gas cartridges from his plane in one of the most awesome ways possible.

The short originally aired earlier this week on Cartoon Network as part of a Teen Titans Go broadcast, but now DC Entertainment has offered it up to all of us for free online. It's a must-watch, but be warned: You may suddenly get very, very sad that Batman: The Animated Series isn't still on the air.
