The lethal assassin Deathstroke (AKA Slade Wilson) has been a potent supporting character in the DC Universe since his inception in The New Teen Titans #2 in 1980. Created by Marv Wolfman and George Perez, he branched out into TV, movies, and video games to provide chaos and mayhem for flagship superheroes like Nightwing, Batman, Superman, Wolverine, and Green Arrow.
When DC Rebirth blasted off two years ago, Deathstroke received a new standalone series in August of 2016 as his past and present collided to provide an arena of conflict where the murderous mercenary's life was reexamined and redefined.
Launching a new "Deathstroke vs Batman" story arc beginning with DC's Deathstroke #30, the title's original creative team of veteran writer Christopher Priest and artist Carlos Pagulayan present an engaging tale involving Batman and DNA proof that Deathstroke is the actual biologic father to Damian Wayne.
SYFY WIRE's Tiffany Smith spent time with Priest and Pagulayan to hear their take on the upcoming Deathstroke arc, meeting for the first time here at C2E2 since working together for two years, how the story goes from script to page, dealing with DC continuity, and jumping in and enjoying the new 6-part custody battle storyline.
Deathstroke #30 hit comic shops on April 4.
