The King is here!
To kick off SYFY WIRE's second day of C2E2 coverage, moderator Clare Grant hosted a spotlight panel for The Walking Dead's Khary Payton, the performer behind King Ezekiel. While Payton warned he couldn't share any spoilers from the show, he did tell the audience how he came up with Ezekiel's voice. He also spoke about Shiva, Ezekiel's beloved tiger, and what he would do to get her back. That's just a taste of what you can see in the nearly hour-long panel!
Longtime fans may recall that Payton has a history with comics far beyond The Walking Dead. He's also the voice of Cyborg in the first Teen Titans animated series, as well as the current Teen Titans Go! series. Payton recalled how his incarnation of Cyborg loves the fact that he's part-robot with a more upbeat personality than his comic book counterpart.
Payton joked that fans assume he is being blackmailed into doing Teen Titans Go!, because it is such a departure from the original series and the comic. However, he insists that he is a big fan of the new comedic take on the characters.
Young Justice fans also got a brief update about the upcoming third season, in which Payton is reprising his role as Aqualad/Kaldur'ahm. He told the crowd that he's seen some of the animation, and it will premiere on DC's new streaming service later this year.
