NBC has been jumping all over modern history with the new prime-time series Timeless, so we caught up with the cast and crew to talk about what makes this series different from all the other time-hopping fare on the market.
Put simply: Producer Eric Kripke (Supernatural) said their goal is to actually make time-travel stories fun again, drawing inspiration from fan favorites of a simpler era, such as Quantum Leap. He said they’re looking to tell a story with forward momentum, while tackling time travel in a way that’s not a total “mind F.” Fair enough.
We also chatted with cast members Goran Visnjic, Abigail Spencer and Malcom Barrett about the series. The trio promised the series would not be withholding answers all season as some shows do, and instead they’ll be building the mythology and asking more questions to propel the narrative forward. For history buffs, they also said there will be a whole lot to love this season. From Nazi Germany to the Alamo and Las Vegas’ Atomic City history, the team will be hitting all of them and more in Season 1.
Timeless airs Monday nights on NBC.
