We're just a few days away from the hotly anticipated premiere of the third season of SYFY's dark fantasy series, The Magicians, where the quest to bring back magic is ON after it was basically snuffed out back in Season 2. Oops.
In anticipation of Season 3 (which has added Felicia Day in a pivotal role, by the way), SYFY WIRE is taking a look back at the series' first two seasons in our latest In 2 Minutes video, which will also serve as the perfect refresher for fans that may have gotten a case of magically-induced amnesia during The Magicians' painful months-long hiatus.
So, without further ado:
The fantasy series based on writer Lev Grossman's bestselling novels has often been described as Harry Potter for adults mixed in with a weirder version of Narnia. It follows a group of 20-something students enrolled in a secret upstate New York university named Brakebills that specializes in magic. Season 2 saw Quentin, Alice, Margo and Eliot become Kings and Queens of the magical realm of Fillory, while Julia embarked on her own personal journey.
With gods mysteriously dying while other gods are pretty peeved off, things are getting particularly dark and dire for the gang. Season 3 will also embark on a trip to the ends of the Earth on the ship Muntjac in their quest to find magic. And from the various previous trailers released so far, it seems it may not be completely gone for good.
The Magicians returns Jan. 10 on SYFY.
