From his inception by creators Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster to when he first appeared in a comic in 1938 then subsequently in radio dramas, cartoons, television shows, and movies, Superman has taken to the skies for truth, justice, and the American way, impacting us in countless ways. All the while, he's guided us through 1,000 issues of Action Comics ... and let's not forge numerous spinoff comics and miniseries over the years, whether it be Man of Steel, Adventures of Superman or Superman.

Superman has been a part of many generations over the course of eight decades, inspiring us as an immigrant to planet Earth and championing the very best qualities of humanity. Fans never forget their first impression, and even though he's had his ups and downs, he remains a cherished character.
