The USA series Colony follows the saga of a family caught in a city controlled by mysterious extraterrestrial overlords. The first season did a great job of establishing the stakes, so what can fans expect when the series returns?
We caught up with showrunner Ryan Condal at San Diego Comic-Con to talk about where they’ll be taking the story next, and he promised they’ll be digging deeper into the idea of a surveillance state (teased at the end of Season 1), and seeing what happens with the government shake-ups from Season 1.
Condal teased Season 2 will be more “sci-fi heavy,” and set in a “darker world” as they embrace even more science fiction themes than they hit in the first season. The first year almost backed into its sci-fi leanings in a lot of ways, but it seems like they’ll be tackling those concepts more directly this time around.
Colony will return for a second season on USA in 2017.
