We caught up with accomplished comic artist Michael Cho to talk about his boatload of work for Marvel and DC Comics, and the trick to making a perfect cover.

Cho told us he tries to create covers, especially variants, that are dynamic and as eye-catching as possible. He talks about some of his favorite works, form his Star Wars cover a while back, to a sketch of Kanye West. He also told us a bit about his Shoplifter graphic novel, and revealed he is still working on a follow-up, with some other books in that same series. He said they may not follow the same characters, but they’ll continue on in that vein. When putting a comic together, Cho said he tries to tell stories that can transcend genre and touch on a variety of elements and emotion.
