Way back in 2004, Pixar's The Incredibles set a new standard for superhero parity with the super couple, Mr. Incredible (Craig T. Nelson) and Elastigirl (Holly Hunter). They were superstar crime fighters and married until "supes" fell out of favor and were forced by the government to go live normal lives. But average citizens Bob and Helen Parr found their path again, and got their three kids into the hero game, by the end of the film.
Now Incredibles 2 picks right back up with the Parr family integrating back into their super alter egos, with Helen taking point as she becomes the public face of a pro-superhero PR campaign. Bob is left to parent Violet (Sarah Vowell), Dash (Huck Milner), and little Jack-Jack (Eli Fucile), at home, with some less than heroic results.
SYFY WIRE sat down with the Parrs, Craig T. Nelson and Holly Hunter, to talk about their concerns about getting back into the superhero game again more than a decade after the original, how they found their character voices again, and that special something that makes an Incredibles movie so unique.
Incredibles 2 is in theaters this Friday, June 15. Keep checking back at SYFY WIRE this week for more from our chats with Brad Bird and Nicole Grindle, Bob Odenkirk, Catherine Keener, and Samuel L. Jackson.
