Miles Morales might be swinging around New York City as the local neighborhood Spider-Man, but Peter Parker is still off tackling the more world-ending stakes on a week-to-week basis. Though his latest big event might be a contentious one for fans, legendary writer Dan Slott is here to explain why you should definitely give it a chance.

We caught up with Slott at New York Comic Con to talk about the new Amazing Spider-Man event The Clone Conspiracy, and despite the red flag of “clone” in the title, Slott said fans should definitely give it a shot. He takes on the somewhat sore subject (at least for many Spider-Man fans) in regard to telling a “clone” story after some not-so-well-received arcs back in the day.

He also coins the hilarious logline: “The comic book version of a root canal” along the way. Heehee.
