Does Deadpool 2 have one of the all-time great post-credits scenes? We certainly think so! It's a wild sequence that finds Deadpool doing a few things that could potentially break the universe. Or at least unravel everything that we saw in the sequel. But it's such a fun turn of events that it's hard to care about the consequences.

SPOILER ALERT: This post includes major plot points for Deadpool 2. Come back after you've seen the film!

SYFY WIRE's Mike Avila recently caught up with Deadpool 2 director David Leitch to ask him about the genesis of the post-credits scenes.

"We had a couple of ideas floating around for the post-credit sequence,” recalled Leitch. “I was pushing hard for the stealing the time-travel device. And I wanted it to solve the Vanessa problem."

"The Vanessa problem" is that the love of Deadpool’s life was murdered very early in the film. The time-travel device represented a unique way to fix that problem, because the story already demonstrated that the past can be changed. It was such a great solution that it presented the filmmakers with an opportunity to push it even further than they initially planned to.

Leitch was quick to credit Deadpool 2 star Ryan Reynolds for coming up with idea to revisit his role in X-Men Origins: Wolverine or even change his own personal timeline when he was about to star in Green Lantern. That proved to be the perfect way to close out the movie on a big laugh.
