Fans in Hall H erupted at the trailer's pop-in appearance of a disoriented, yet totally up-for-anything Jodie Whitaker, who closed the 40-second clip out with a promise everyone can get behind: “This is gonna be fun.”
Check out the first look at the upcoming season of Doctor Who with BBC’s hot-off-the-presses new clip:
As you can see, the Thirteenth Doctor’s new adventures seem to have a heavy ensemble focus (the cast repeatedly referred to their on-screen characters as "friends"), as well as a cinematically-scaled, CGI-enriched production aesthetic that wouldn’t be out of place on the big screen.
Whitaker already has suggested this season may be the most accessible one yet for newcomers, while assuring longtime fans that there’ll be plenty to chew on — including new characters, monsters, and locations to further expand the Who-verse.
A hard release date still hasn’t been announced, but BBC America is promising to deliver the new season of Doctor Who sometime this fall. During the panel, showrunner Chris Chibnall pledged the new season will consist of “10 standalone stories.”
