For the past two weeks, Who Won the Week’s video installments centered on the wonderful world of comic books. While one edition offered a look at the most underrated characters in Marvel Comics, the second saw hip-hop artist Jean Grae discussing the comics that were winning her week. This time? We’re going back to the movies and heading to a galaxy far, far away.
Solo: A Star Wars Story is entering its second week in movie theaters, and SYFY WIRE’s contributing editor Karama Horne and Editor-in-Chief Adam Swiderski are diving into the Star Wars anthology film for our May 28-June 1 video edition. And they had plenty to share.
Both Adam and Karama actually enjoyed Solo and thought the movie was a lot of fun, with great action set pieces, characters, and amazing cinematography to boot. While Adam believed Alden Ehrenreich did a good job as a young Han Solo, Karama’s favorite was Donald Glover as Lando Calrissian, who boasted a great collection of capes. Adam also was a fan of the movie’s great ensemble cast, which includes Emilia Clarke, Paul Bettany, and Woody Harrelson (among others).
The duo pointed out that the movie was not only filled with a lot of new and not-so-new characters, but also featured callbacks and references to the original trilogy, comics, and animated series. They also touched upon Solo’s poor box-office reception and explained why they think that is.
