Upon the conclusion of DC Comics’ Dark Knights: Metal event, there will be five titles to spin out and make the Dark Matter roster. This includes The Silencer by Dan Abnett and John Romita Jr.; Immortal Men by James Tynion IV and Jim Lee; New Challengers by Scott Snyder and Andy Kubert; Sideways by Dan DiDio, Justin Jordan, and Kenneth Rocafort; and finally Damage by Robert Venditti and Tony S. Daniel.

These are refreshing new takes on some DC Comics properties that have been in limbo or long on the shelf, and the idea behind this group of titles is to bring the creative teams to the forefront (as opposed to the character) and let them run wild.

With the last title, Venditti and Daniel are introducing a new Damage for Dark Matter, and here is how they are describing the series:

Ethan Avery only wanted to serve his country, but promises of becoming the ultimate weapon leave the new recruit living a nightmare. Cursed with the ability to unleash an unstoppable monster for one hour at a time, Ethan only wants to live out his life in peace. But if he can tame the monster inside, it might just be able to do more good for the country than Ethan ever expected.

We've got some images of some early sketches of Damage that Daniel shared on his Twitter page. These aren't the final versions but some of the early iterations of what will eventually become the finalized Damage, which will be seen in stores this December.

I caught up with Daniel, hot off an arc on Suicide Squad, who gave us a preview of what Damage is, the challenges of drawing big monsters, and which specific monsters were an inspiration to him while he was drawing the early issues. Check out the interview below and let us know what you think, and whether Damage or any of the other Dark Matter titles interest you.
