We barely managed to pull ourselves from playing Marvel’s Spider-Man on the PS4 to bring you the newest edition of SYFY WIRE Blast’s weekend edition, but pull ourselves we did! Putting our controllers down, we took a look at the geektastic happenings for the week of Sept. 17-21.

This time, Jackie Jennings was joined by SYFY WIRE Geeksplain podcast host Angélique Roché to share what won their week — besides playing that record-shattering Spidey video game, that is.

While genre TV didn’t win big during the 2018 Emmy Awards, HBO's Game of Thrones did manage to snag the golden statuette for Best Drama Series while Peter Dinklage won for Best Supporting Actor in a Drama Series for his portrayal of Tyrion Lannister. And Thandie Newton won for Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for her role of Maeve on Westworld, while Black Mirror won Best Writing for a Limited Series, Movie or Drama for the “USS Callister” episode.

With Halloween right around the corner, we’re now entering horror season and Angélique revealed three things she's excited about: the Jack Black and Cate Blanchett-starrer The House with a Clock in Its Walls (out now), the upcoming Goosebumps 2: Haunted Halloween (Oct. 12), and the fifth season of SYFY’s wacky Z Nation premiering on Oct. 5.

As for Jackie, she's looking forward to author Kiersten White’s novel The Dark Descent of Elizabeth Frankenstein, which is hitting store shelves on Sept. 25, as well as the horror movie Hell Fest out in theaters on Sept. 28.

So, these are the things that won our week. How about you? Let us know in the comments below.
