Marvel’s film slate seems to get more diverse by the year, and fans are dying to get a look at Evangeline Lilly as the iconic comic character the Wasp. So how’s that going?
We caught up with Lilly at New York Comic Con to ask her a bit about Ant-Man and the Wasp, and she revealed an initial script is complete and they’re just waiting for the studio to approve it. She does know a bit about the direction, and said the Ant-Man sequel will essentially be the origin story of the Wasp as we finally get to see someone take up this mantle on the big screen for the first time.
With two new Avengers films set to arrive in 2018 and 2019, Lilly revealed she will be showing up in the second Avengers film in that remaining slate. The reason? Ant-Man and the Wasp doesn’t arrive until 2018, and the studio didn’t want to introduce the Wasp in a team-up film before giving her a deeper origin story with a solo movie (i.e. why Doctor Strange wasn't in Civil War, etc.). Lucky for us, there’s another Avengers film just a year later, so she’ll definitely be there for that one.
