Just like one of its man-eating dinosaurs, the Jurassic franchise was brought back from extinction in 2015 with the theatrical release of Jurassic World. The amusement park originally envisioned by John Hammond was now up and running; nothing could go wrong. Well, maybe a few things.
You see, the film takes place in an alternate universe where resurrected creatures from prehistory just don't get the adrenaline pumping anymore. No, to draw more visitors to the park, the folks in the lab (led by B.D. Wong's Henry Wu) gotta cook up something brand new, a new dinosaur that's got frog, cuttlefish, tree frog, raptor, and T-rex in its DNA. As one review put it at the time, it's a dino cooked up "with 11 secret herbs and spices." Hence the Indominus Rex, which, unsurprisingly, breaks free, eats a bunch of people, and drives the park to be closed just like its predecessor.
Directed and co-written by Colin Trevorrow (and produced by Spielberg), Jurassic World hit just the right nostalgic beats and went on to not only gain favorable reviews from critics, but bring in more than $1 billion at the worldwide box office. Naturally, a sequel was in the works, meaning a new trilogy was in the works.
And the entire video's just 2 minutes long, so you've got no excuse NOT to watch it!
