Being Valentine’s Day, today is the perfect day for the cast and crew of TBS' upcoming space opera cartoon series Final Space to share with us the very first thing they totally geeked about, aka their first genre love.
So, what pulled them in for the first time and/or what led them to their first real geeky passion? We have the answers.
SYFY WIRE's Tara Bennett sat down with show star Tika Sumpter, showrunner David Sacks and Final Space writer/creator/star Olan Rogers to talk about what property, toy, comic, TV series or movie led them to love all things geek. Some of the things that captured their hearts and imagination include Saturday morning cartoons, a legendary comic book run by Jack Kirby and an old VHS copy of a movie set in a galaxy far, far away.
Final Space follows the adventures of astronaut Gary Space (voiced by Rogers) who boldly goes on a mission to discover where the universe actually ends (and if it even exists at all). He will be accompanied by his planet-destroying alien sidekick Mooncake (also Rogers) and Commander Quinn (Sumpter).
Along with a cool premise, the show will also feature quite the stellar voice cast in David Tennant (Doctor Who), Steven Yeun (The Walking Dead), Keith David (The Thing), Shannon Purser (Stranger Things), Gina Torres (Firefly), Caleb McLaughlin (Stranger Things), Fred Armisen (Portlandia), Andy Richter (Santa Clarita Diet), Ron Perlman (Hellboy) and Conan O’Brien, who also produces the series via Conaco.
Final Space will debut on February 26 on TBS. Are you looking forward to the new series? Head on over to our other recent interview with Sumpter, Rogers and Sacks for more.
