Don’t go into this new clip peeking ahead to the upcoming second season of Hulu’s Future Man expecting elaborate plot setups or character twists — just sit back and bask in what promises to be even more hilarious lunacy as Seth Rogen’s inspired sci-fi comedy readies its January return.
Left at the end of Season 1 in the custody of a wacked-out group of weirdos who call themselves the Pointed Circle, it’s up to time-confused hero Josh Futterman (The Hunger Games’ Josh Hutcherson) and pals Tiger (Eliza Coupe) and Wolf (Derek Wilson) to “unf*** this timeline” while talking these nuts down from making a weapon that can destroy the world.
Check out the trailer below, but get ready — it’s a manic ride:
While the clip sets up nothing more than Season 2’s promise to be bone-headedly hilarious, there’s actually a cool story waiting to hatch as Future Man enters its sophomore outing. The NYCC premiere of the season’s first episode found Futterman separated from his two friends, forcing each of them to deal individually with their fish-out-of-water fate while scrambling to reunite.
Now that the gang has finally arrived to stay (for now) in this strange, pansexual, and abundantly idiotic point in humanity’s future, Season 2 plans to roll out the red carpet for a long list of guest stars.
Producer/creator Evan Goldberg already has revealed there’ll be one-off appearances from Will Forte (Last Man on Earth), Kristen Schall (Bob's Burgers), Kerri Kenney (Reno 911), Timothy Simons (Veep), and, of course, Rogen himself. And be sure to keep your eye out for Haley Joel Osment as Doctor Stu Camillo, who’s probably the last person you’d want holding humanity’s fate in his hands — unless you just want to throw popcorn at the proceedings and laugh.
While the fates of our heroes may or may not be comedically dark, at least Future Man’s future looks bright enough to don those shades. Season 2 makes its Hulu debut on Jan. 19.
