We first heard about Jackson Gordon’s ultra-functional, homemade Batsuit a few months ago — but here’s our first look at the makeshift super-suit in battle.

Gordon, a university student who has started his own design studio Armatus Designs, created his own Batsuit that is lightweight and designed to handle the basic attacks a would-be crimefighter might encounter on the mean streets. No, it won’t stop a hail of gunfire, but it is capable of deflecting knife attacks and a barrage of punches and kicks.

To display even more of his suit’s design, Gordon has produced a new video demonstration showing the gear in action. We get to see it take all kinds of attacks, while Gordon shows off how lightweight and maneuverable the kit can be. It took the aspiring designer five months and $2,000 to put the 25-pound suit together, using mostly impact absorbing foam, Kevlar and Kydex plating.
