In case you missed it, we recently took hip hop artist Jean Grae comic book shopping with us at Forbidden Planet in New York City. The multi-talented artist, writer, actress, and comedian also stuck around for our May 21-25 video installment of Who Won the Week.

Grae is a huge comic book fan who lived next to a comic book store growing up, where her brother got her into a lot of X-Men and Marvel titles. So she had plenty to say about the comics that are winning her week.

The first title on the list is Marvel’s Exiles, penned by Saladin Ahmed and illustrated by Javier Rodriguez. The comic features X-Man Blink who’s not completely in control of her powers and must save the Multiverse from a mysterious threat with the help of a team that includes the Tessa Thompson version of Valkyrie and Baby Wolverine.

Then we have Boom! StudiosAbbott, also written by Saladin Ahmed with art by Sami Kivelä. The comic follows tabloid reporter Elena Abbott working the beat in the 1970s as she follows the trail of a supernatural killer.

Grae has also been reading Image ComicsMonstress by Marjorie Liu and Sana Takeda. The steampunk comic is a fantasy epic that centers on a young girl named Maika who’s linked with a powerful monster that she slowly learns to control. Oh, and sometimes, she has to eat a heart.

So, which comic book title do you think won the week for Jean Grae? Check out our exclusive video to find out.
