John Carpenter and the Halloween holiday go together like peanut butter and honey, so a new TV series capitalizing on the Master of Horror's anthology comic, Tales For A Halloween Night, seems like a spooky slam dunk.

SYFY is pairing up with Carpenter and his producing partner, Sandy King Carpenter, to a adapt the 2015 graphic novel and two of its annual sequels of the same name, which printed a collection of fright tales submitted from writers in TV, film, novels, and comics. Brimming with "tales to warm your toes by on a dark and stormy October night," it's a creepy volume of spine-tingling stories featuring dank crypts, ancient cemeteries, marauding monsters, ghost ships and freaky phantoms.

Last weekend at NYCC, SYFY WIRE joined Sandy King Carpenter, artist Cat Staggs, and writer James Ninness to discuss this eerie upcoming project, the newest 13-story volume of terrifying tales, and keeping the spirit and fun of the comic as it transforms into a SYFY TV series for 2018.

John Carpenter's Tales For A Halloween Night Vol. 3 strikes fear in book stores on October 17.
