We recently caught up with comic writer James Ninness to talk about his new story under the John Carpenter's Tales of Science Fiction line. It sounds like a perfect storm for fans of space-set horror.

Ninness said Carpenter is basically getting together a few of his favorite writers and putting together miniseries over at Storm King Comics. For Ninness’ project, The Vault, it focuses on a team of miners on the moon who stumble upon an abandoned spacecraft full of aliens. The kicker? All the writing’s in English. Ninness described it as the sweet spot between Sunshine and Event Horizon, and that certainly sounds like a story worth telling.

Here’s the three issue miniseries’ synopsis:

When the moon-bound crew of Gaia stumbles across an enormous alien vessel, more technologically advanced than their own, priorities change. The mystery deepens when the crew discovers the name of the vessel along the hull … written in English: VAULT. VAULT (#1 of 3) is the first story of John Carpenter’s monthly anthology series Tales of Science Fiction.

The Vault is slated to hit comic store shelves in July.
