While we wait for a big-screen version of Justice League Dark, DC’s animated division is bringing Constantine and the gang to life early next year. But why is Batman there?
We caught up with the cast and crew of the new DC animated film at New York Comic Con 2016 to talk about how these characters fit into the wider animated world, and what it’s like to bring them to life. Matt Ryan (Constantine) seemed genuinely excited to bring Constantine back in animated form, and having the chance to explore how he connects to all these other characters.
Jason O’Mara is bringing his version of Batman into the group, a shake-up from the comic canon, but the actor said he won’t mix all too well with these supernatural heroes. Bruce is in over his head with all this magic craziness, but he certainly won’t show it. Producer James Tucker said they added Batman to serve as the “everyman” of the story, to provide a conduit to introduce viewers to this world.
Justice League Dark is set for release in early 2017.
