Karen Berger is hitting the ground running at her new home at Oregon-based Dark Horse Comics, and fans should be thrilled at the first pack of titles emanating from the newly forged imprint, Berger Books.

As the founder of DC Entertainment's mature readers label Vertigo back in 1993, overseeing iconic series like The Sandman, American Vampire, The Invisibles, 100 Bullets, and Preacher, Berger introduced fans to a more sophisticated experience by delving into edgy topics like overt sexuality, brutal crime, extreme violence, and explicit substance abuse.

After settling in over the past year and setting up shop, Berger Books is primed to present its first foursome of intriguing comic titles: the old Vertigo classic Incognegro, celebrity chef and exotic globetrotter Anthony Bourdain's Hungry Ghosts, Ann Nocenti's The Seeds, and Emma Beeby's Mata Hari.

SYFY WIRE shared a room with Berger in the video above to discuss what readers can hope for in her new launch of titles with Dark Horse Comics. Listen in and tell us if any of these projects coming from her new lineup sound like something you might sample.
