As you may have heard, the jacket Harrison Ford wore onscreen as Han Solo in The Empire Strikes Back is headed to auction beginning later this month, and it's expected to bring in more than $1 million. That's an exciting and massive indicator of just how much the Star Wars franchise still means to pop culture, but it also means most of us around the world will simply be spectators, because we don't have that kind of cash. Well, if you're looking for more of an auction bargain, Mark Hamill has your back.
Luke Skywalker himself stopped by Jimmy Kimmel Live! Thursday night, with an "R2-D BAG" on his shoulder, to talk about the Solo auction, and when Kimmel reminded him how much Ford's jacket will likely go for, Hamill rightly said the number was "unbelievable." Then, he revealed a "special offer for one night, and one night only," and revealed a screen-worn pair of "Luke Skywalker's capri pants!"
Now, you may be thinking to yourself that Luke Skywalker didn't wear capri pants, just like Kimmel did. Well, you're wrong, and Hamill brought photo evidence to prove it. He wore those bad boys, also known as his "Luke Highwaters," in both Empire and in Return of the Jedi, and he's willing to let them go for the low, low price of $100,000. Check it out:
Hamill's begun to make a habit of these little visits to Kimmel's show, having stopped by previously to surprise Star Wars superfan Adam Scott and to try and steal Kimmel's Walk of Fame star. Now he's selling off Star Wars capri pants (and a Chewbacca hairball). With any luck, if he keeps this up they'll let him guest host the next time Kimmel has to call in sick.
Hamill will return as Luke Skywalker in Star Wars: Episode IX, set to hit theaters in December 2019.
