Today is November 10, which means it’s the birthday of one the most gifted storytellers currently bestriding this big blue sphere. I’m of course talking about the comic book writer, novelist, poet, screenwriter, and beloved tweet-master known as Neil Gaiman.

Gaiman has been enthralling fans with his tales for 30 years and has found success in an incredible number of media and genres, having written fantasy, horror, sci-fi, superheroes, and everything in between for audiences of all ages. With Stoker, Hugo, Eisner, Nebula, and dozens of awards to his name, he is truly one of the world’s most beloved writers.

Despite his already impressive career, he shows no signs of slowing down and, in fact, may be more relevant than ever. With a recent hit show based on his novel American Gods, and more live-action adaptations coming for Good Omens, How to Talk to Girls at Parties, and potentially Interworld — not to mention characters from The Sandman appearing in DC’s comic book mega-event, Metalthe author’s works have never been quite as in the zeitgeist as they are right now.

There are so many works of his worth celebrating that we could sit here all day listing them, or alternatively, we could just learn all the essentials about Neil Gaiman in just 2 minutes! In the original video above, SYFY WIRE's Jackie Jennings gives you the lightning-fast rundown of the acclaimed author’s life and greatest hits, so whether you're a Neil newbie or a certified Gaiman-gusher, this one is required viewing. And don't forget to wish him a happy birthday by letting us know your favorite Neil Gaiman stories in the comments below!
