Summit Entertainment has released a brand-new epic trailer for its upcoming The Legend of Hercules flick -- as well as a pretty nifty behind-the-scenes look.

The new short trailer has our titular Greek demigod hero and son of Zeus -- that’d be our main man Hercules -- being an awesome 300-meets-Spartacus type of manly warrior, with a good wallop of God of War thrown in.

The second is a behind-the-scenes video about makeup. Star Kellan Lutz reveals he spends about two hours in the chair each day, not only to have scars applied to him, but also to remove some very real ones as well!

Have a look:

While we're pretty sure he's excited about his one movie, Lutz told Collider that he could not wait to see rival flick Hercules: The Thracian Wars, directed by Brett Ratner and starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.

"For me, I'm obsessed with mythology movies, and I wish there was a plethora of these movies. I'd watch 'em all!
"I'm just excited that our movies are different and that there are multiple stories of Hercules being told. The Rock's is quite different. It's The Thracian Wars, which are the older stories of Hercules. This is the origin, so it sets it up.
"It's like, 'Oh, we saw Kellan be the young, youthful beginning of Hercules's journey', and then, you get to end with The Rock. I can't wait to watch The Rock's, and I really hope he checks mine out, as well."

The Legend of Hercules appears to be flying under most people's radars as we speak, but we think that it could be a fun flick to watch -- we do like all the Spartacus-like arena scenes -- one that seems to deal a bit more with the human side of the legendary hero (there's a love story in there as well as some very nice pecs for the ladies to ogle) rather than with the demigod that he is. The Renny Harlin-directed flick could end up being a success like 300, or a failure like Immortals.

What do you guys think?

The Legend of Hercules will be unleashed in theaters on Jan. 10.
