Freeform's Beyond is one of the network's most ambitious genre projects yet, and the cast promises things are getting even bigger in Season 2.
We caught up with stars Burkely Duffield, Eden Brolin and Dilan Gwyn at New York Comic Con to discuss the series' return. Gwyn said Season 2 will have "more" of pretty much everything while telling a story that is "a lot darker, a lot funnier" than Season 1. Brolin said the next arc will focus on these characters trying to "fix what's going on" while delving deeper into this characters and the consequences of Season 1.
When asked to describe the season in one word, Duffield came up with: "Upping the stakes." And yeah, we realize that's not exactly one word, but still, it's a pretty good tease for where the series will be heading next.
The story follows a young man who wakes up from a coma after more than a decade and discovers he now possesses strange new abilities. The series delves into a conspiracy surrounding his life, his new abilities, and what exactly happened during the years he was asleep. The show was split opinion among critics, with most calling it a bit cliched when it comes to sci-fi tropes but still with a lot of heart.
Season 2 of Beyond premieres Thursday, Jan. 18, 2018 on Freeform. Check out the interview below and let us know what you think.
